HVAC and Lighting retrofits were placed in service on this courthouse in the southwest. Features of the systems placed in service include a new water cooled chiller with VFD pumping and T8 lighting. Due to the energy efficient retrofit, the courthouse achieved a power and energy savings of 18.4% as a result of the HVAC system upgrades and an LPD reduction of 72.6% because of the lighting system.
These energy efficient features created energy savings necessary to generate the full available deduction for both Lighting and HVAC systems, $1.20 per square foot. The total deduction the designer of this project claimed was $302,587.20.
NOTE: The square footage for the lighting retrofit is 18,980 square feet more than the HVAC retrofit as a result of a small building annex that received a lighting retrofit only.
