A public high school design project was completed by an engineering firm in Alabama. As part of a school district wide energy efficiency retrofit project, this 237,049 square foot school completed upgrades of its HVAC and interior lighting systems. Building components installed as part of this project included CO2 sensors and building controls systems and T8 lighting. As a result of the system upgrades, the school achieved a power and energy savings of 25.70% for the HVAC system and an LPD reduction of 58.10% for the lighting system.
The engineering firm was allocated the Section 179D deduction by the school system and they worked with Concord to secure the Section 179D certification. The results for the engineering firm were a $284,458.80 federal tax deduction.
