As part of a performance services contract with an energy services company (ESCO), an energy efficient retrofit was completed for an entire public school system. Highlighted in this case study is one of the high schools where the HVAC system was upgraded with building system controls and sensors and a T8 lighting upgrade was completed throughout the facility.
The ESCO, as project designer, secured the allocation of the Section 179D tax deduction from the municipal owner and then engaged Concord’s services to complete the Section 179D certification. The results produced a one-time $1.20/SF tax deduction for the designer, $362,967.60. And the owners of the public high school now have the long-term benefit of a much more energy efficient school for their students and faculty.
