This public high school renovation was completed by an energy services company (ESCO) as part of a school district wide energy savings performance contract project. The 438,946 square foot high school completed a major retrofit of its HVAC systems. Building components installed as part of this project included high efficiency air-cooled chiller, condensing boiler, demand control ventilation, and VFDs. As a result of the energy efficient retrofit, the school achieved an energy savings of 58.3% for the HVAC system. Due to the energy efficient features of the upgrades and achieving above a 50% power and energy savings, the ESCO designer qualified for the whole building Section 179D deduction of $790,102.80 or $1.80/SF.
