A state owned training facility for individuals with disabilities located in a southern state worked directly with a contractor as part of a state-wide energy efficiency initiative. This training facility received new electric heat pumps and controls along with a complete lighting retrofit. The contractor’s design and upgrade resulted in a 28.90% power and energy savings as a result of the HVAC improvements and a 46.70% LPD reduction in lighting. The Section 179D deduction was allocated to the contractor and resulted in a $1.20/SF Section 179D deduction, $160,776.
