Construction employment increased in all but 6 states during 2015 — and for good measure, employment rose in 39 states and the District of Columbia during the last month of the year, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
Most of the states losing jobs were energy-producing states, association officials said.
“The question now is whether declining energy prices will impact construction employment in a larger part of the country this year,” said Stephen E. Sandherr, chief executive officer for the association.
California ranked first, adding 59,300 construction jobs (an increase of 8.6 percent) between December 2014 and December 2015. North Dakota lost the most jobs (3,000, a decrease of 8.1 percent).
