ABI Ended 2014 on the Upswing - Concord LP | Concord Energy Strategies

Written by Concord | Jan 21, 2015

The Architectural Billings Index ended 2014 with healthy momentum, with ten months of the year showing an increase in architectural billings.

Compiled by the American Institute of Architects, the ABI is a leading economic indicator for construction: It takes approximately nine months to a year between architecture billings and construction spending.

“Business conditions continue to be the strongest at architecture firms in the South and the Western regions,” said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker. “Particularly encouraging is the continued solid upturn in design activity at institutional firms, since public sector facilities were the last nonresidential building project type to recover from the downturn.”
