Construction Employment Continues Rebound - Concord LP | Concord Energy Strategies

Written by Concord | Nov 06, 2015

In October construction employment reached its highest level since February 2009 — 6,434,000 jobs — and unemployment in the sector has dropped to 6.2 percent, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

“The industry continues to recover while the hiring slowdowns it experienced during the summer were prompted more by labor shortages than they were any slump in demand,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist. “Construction firms appear to have had an easier time finding workers in October than they did during the summer.”

Simonson said that construction wages have risen for the past four years, to an average of $27.54 per hour in October.
