Construction spending in December 2015 increased both over November and over December 2014, an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC)
But association officials expressed worry downward trends in private nonresidential construction could offset increased public-sector demand.
In the public sector, overall spending increased 1.9 percent from a month before and 3.9 percent from 12 months earlier. Highway and street construction up 9.4 percent for the month and 12 percent year-over-year; spending on educational facilities dipped 0.5 percent for the month but posted a 9.4 percent year-over-year gain.
