Stakeholders Petition Congressional Leaders - Concord LP | Concord Energy Strategies

Written by Concord | Nov 30, 2015

The Coalition to Extend and Improve the 179D Tax Deduction for Energy-Efficient Buildings has prepared a letter urging that Congress pass a multi-year extension of the Section 179D tax deduction, with changes that will make the standards for qualifying “more stringent” and that will allow tribal governments and non-profits to allocate the deduction to designers.

Addressed to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the letter cites 179D’s economic impact — leveraging billions of dollars, encouraging energy efficiency in thousands of buildings and creating and preserving hundreds of thousands of jobs — and its environmental ramifications — lowering demands on the power grid, reducing carbon emissions, and moving the country closer to energy independence.

The Coalition plans to distribute the letter November 30, 2015. Click below to read it and add your signature.
